Beth Jacob is small vibrant synagogue with deep roots in Central Vermont. It is the core of the Jewish community. Our members hail from multiple towns, bringing energy, inclusivity and a yearning for Judaism. Becoming a member and paying dues are acts of commitment to the Jewish community.
Why Be a Member?
We are Community, where people share interests and beliefs, offer support in time of need and are part of a Jewish community.
We are Education, where children are encouraged to learn from an early age and build a spiritual foundation that will take them into adulthood. We encourage adults to continue their education through thought-provoking discussions and events, book groups, and use of our extensive library collection;
We are Social Events, offering a wide array of social programs such as movie nights, holiday celebrations, explorations of worldwide Jewish cuisine, Jewish themed art exhibits, music, Mahjong, and knitting groups. Members can also hold special events and other group activities by arrangement with the president in accordance with our space use policy.
We are Spirituality, offering regular services on Friday evenings and once a month on Saturday mornings in our peaceful and calming sanctuary;
We are Social Action, whether it be feeding the hungry, helping our congregants during time of need, and uniting around acts of kindness and social injustice;
We are Life Cycles, from birth to death, celebrating Bar and Bat Mitzvahs of members, we are your community to guide and support you during these important periods;
We are Perpetual Memory, memorializing loved ones in perpetuity, honoring the gift of eternal life.
